Definition
According to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Biodiversity is the variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part; this includes diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems” (OECD, 2019, p. 19). Together, the construct of biodiversity is formed by two words; "biological" and "diversity". The variety of life in all its forms, and at all levels, including genes, species, and ecosystems. [1]
