Administrative Data. Data tabulated as a byproduct of administrative programs of Federal and of state and local governments, such as the filing of corporate tax returns, the regulation of public utilities, and the issuance of building permits.

Some estimates that are part of the Economic Census, generally those for small establishments (including nonemployers and small employers), are based on administrative data rather than on data collected directly
