Economic Census

From Open Risk Manual

Definition

Economic Census. Provides a detailed portrait of the US economy once every 5 years, from the national to the local level.

The basic statistics collected cover nearly all of the U.S. economy except agriculture and government, which are covered by concurrent economic censuses. Several related programs collect additional statistics, including those on minority- and women-owned businesses. The Economic Census is conducted largely by the Census Bureau; the Census of Agriculture is conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Economic Census for 1997 compiled and published data primarily on a NAICS basis for the first time.[1]
