Definition

Primary Market. Issuance and primary market trading of new Traded Financial Instruments. This is a marketplace where issuers of e.g., debt or other financial obligations deal directly with finance providers to raise funds. This can be described as Origination and is contrasted with the Secondary Market where financial assets are traded and purchased by other finance providers or investors.
