Definition

Irrevocable Confirmed Letter of Credit. It is a letter of credit which is confirmed by another financial institution, normally one in the beneficiary's jurisdiction. A confirming financial institution is one which undertakes to make payment on the letter of credit on behalf of the issuing financial institution at such time as the beneficiary meets the terms and conditions outlined in the letter of credit.
