Definition

Input Category Code. A 1-5 character alphanumeric code representing an input (expense) category, used to facilitate data processing. If the code begins with a number, it relates to an industry (for example, 00M5 is the code for cost of purchased electricity). If the code begins with a letter, it relates to a final-use category (for example, FDA5F is the code for Federal defense other electronics equipment investment).[1]
