Definition

Energy Consumption or Energy Use refers to the transformation of Energy from one Energy Form to another in the process of enabling human (economic) activity. The economic entity engaging is such consumption is an Energy Consumer. The consumption may final or as part of a production chain.

The term is primarily used in economic context (e.g. Energy Accounting and Energy Risk). In a physics context one speaks more frequently of energy transformation, or energy conversion.
