Document Types
The following is the list of BIS publication types:
- Standards: This class of publications codifies binding regulatory standards (after those are accepted and ratified by relevant jurisdictions)
- Guidelines: Guidelines are similar to standards in terms of being fairly prescriptive expectations, except that it is not anticipated that these will become binding legal requirements
- Sound practices: These publications are typically reviews of current best practice in some subject area
- Implementation: These are reports on current status of implementation of the regulatory agenda
- Others: General topics not falling in any of the above
