Definition
Energy Conservation Conditions are quantative constraints necessary to introduce in Energy Input-Output Analysis to more faithfully represent the physical footprint of economic system.s
Approach
Conceptually, the energy conservation conditions for all economic sectors j ( j = 1, ..., n) can be described as the energy embodied in any sector output xj is equal to the amount of energy embodied in all that sector’s inputs, zij for i = 1, . . . , n, plus any primary energy input, gkj , which is nonzero only for primary energy sectors
Formula
These conditions were first articulated by Herendeen (1974)
