Residual Mix

From Open Risk Manual

Definition

Residual Mix is the mix of energy generation resources (its associated attributes such as GHG emissions) in a defined geographic boundary left after contractual instruments have been claimed/retired/canceled.

For example a country's residual mix represents the shares of electricity generation attributes available for disclosure, after the use of explicit tracking systems, such as GOs, have been accounted for. Attributes refers to information about the nature of the electricity generated, such as electricity type.

The residual mix can provide an emission factor for companies without contractual instruments to use in a market-based method calculation.
