Parametric Reference Entity

From Open Risk Manual

Definition

Parametric Reference Entity. An entity, the value of some property of which is used in calculations for some purpose.

The identity of this entity can be any Independent Thing, provided that that thing has some property which is numerical in nature and can be identified as the property used for reference in the context of this Reference Entity. For example, a Treasury Bill, the interest rate of which is the reference rate. This model does not have the means to formally identify which property of the Reference Entity is used for reference. Instead, the modeler should as a matter of convention provide a reference relationship which inherits its meaning both from the property relationship of the Independent Thing and the identify relationship of the Reference Entity. Future: On OWL2 this arrangement should be reviewed, and a transitive relationship used as appropriate.
