Definition

Official Closing Price. The price at close of trading on a given trading day on an exchange.


Issues and Challenges

The type of price which is quoted will be determined by the exchange. Last Price is recognised as the last trade on that exchange, not a last quote price. (fact about closing Price) Possibles: Last trade at the close of the market Last offer. Variants: what if there is no trade for example. Also may use prior to last trade. Official exchange calculated closing price. Questions at review: What about closing bid, mid offer. MDDL definition:The final price as of market close.
