Definition

Futures Transaction. A forward settlement transaction which is defined by the Futures market in which they are traded.


Issues and Challenges

This is a specialization of the Forward Transaction, which is distinguished by specific rules around for example novation. These are Market rules. So OTC v Futures are distinguished as markets where transactions occur. Action: Define "OTC Market" and "Futures Market" as types of the existing term "Market". In some futures markets the line between notional physical is graded as some markets which were Open Outcry (physical place) become Notional Place.
