Certified Emission Reductions

Definition

Certified Emission Reductions (CER) is a unit of GHG emission reduction generated by a Clean Development Mechanism project.

CERs are tradable commodities that can be used by Annex 1 countries to meet their commitments under the Kyoto Protocol.
