Definition

GHG Data Quality refers to the challenge of managing and reporting the Data Quality of the range of GHG Data Types using in GHG Accounting and reporting.

All data sources used and assumptions made when estimating GHG emissions, whether through scaling, extrapolation, interpolation, or models, will need to be referenced to ensure full transparency. The IPCC uses tiers (Tier 1, 2, 3) to rank methodology, and increasing accuracy in methodology often requires more detailed or higher quality data. In the GPC Protocol, where relevant, references are provided within each emission source category to the corresponding IPCC methodology tiers and methods.
