Abstract

In June 2009, the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) issued Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems. Since December 2009, IADI has been collaborating with the BCBS, the European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, and the European Commission (EC) to develop a robust methodology to assess compliance with the Core Principles. A Steering Committee is coordinating this effort and has prepared a draft Methodology.
