Definition

OECD-ICIO is a Multiregional Input-Output Model and database (MRIO) which contains data describing the global economy.[1]

Structure

ICIO tables provide an international statistical infrastructure that maps flows of production, consumption, investment within countries and flows of international trade in goods and services between countries, broken down by economic activity and by country, globally and in a consistent manner and for a time period that makes such data fit for analytical purposes.

The latest edition of OECD Inter-Country Input-Output (ICIO) has 45 unique industries based on ISIC Revision 4. The tables are provided for 76 countries (and Rest of the World) from 1995 to 2020. There are two versions of ICIO:

  • ICIO with 76 countries + Rest of the World.
  • Extended ICIO with 76 countries, and China and Mexico split to account for firm heterogeneity - this is the format used to generate OECD GVC-related indicators (e.g. TiVA).
