Risk Analyst versus Risk Manager

There is a subtle but important difference between the role of a Risk Analyst and that of a Risk Manager. This is not a formal distinction and organizations may use any title to cover broader Risk Management activities.

  • A risk analyst will (in general) be primarily focused of Risk Analysis, a more technically oriented set of activities that aim to produce / compile relevant and actionable information
  • A risk manager will (in general) be involved in applying (where applicable, enforcing) various internal controls or other tools in a decision making context
