Definition

Financial Accounting. The internal processes that create a representation of the state and changes in state of a corporate entity. The objective is in the first instance assists management, for large entities with significant external stakeholders it may also provide information for external reporting.

Handles financial booking of all business activity in a ledger/sub-ledger accounting structure.
