Definition

A Dataset is a collection of data usually from a common source and assembled for a particular business or other purpose.

The term is used generally to define data that could historically have been brought together, e.g. in a document or dossier, but in an automated digital process are transmitted as a dataset.

A dataset may have an embedded or bundled Data Dictionary
