Definition

An Account Officer is a person within a banking institution that is primarily responsible to manage a particular Account

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the low level implementation the firm's Risk Appetite
  • Collection activity (if not special collections)
  • The account officer should be accountable for the accuracy of Credit Rating or Credit Score because he or she knows more about the credit than anyone else, has access to timely financial information from the borrower. (Some banks assign risk rating responsibility to a credit officer, loan review officer, or a more senior bank officer) [1]
